HeyMy name is Emily (they/them/theirs), and I’m a language nerd currently living in New York.

I’m a linguist and a classicist. Currently, I work as an analytical linguist at Microsoft Research (via Aquent) where I help build out frameworks that can correctly identify and measure harmful language in large generative models.

My goal in whatever space I’m in is always the same - to provide an accessible, safe and welcoming environment where creative, collaborative work can flourish. Living in New York has given me a particular advantage to create these spaces. I was the main event coordinator for Pulsewave, the US’ longest running monthly event dedicated to showcasing music and art created from obsolete video game hardware. I also coordinated multiple Hunter Undergraduate Linguistics and Language Studies (HULLS) conferences, an annual two-day conference where undergraduate researchers were given the opportunity to present their linguistics-related research.
